Jim is an experienced executive with proven capabilities in organizational management, program development and program execution. He is accomplished leader in motivating and managing staff and volunteers in planning and carrying out collaborative business and community projects. Professional Skills and Accomplishments:
- Organized and staffed the Business Roundtable, a group of CEOs who developed and advanced the idea of world class training system and facility for the south central Kansas region.
- Created and staffed Flying In Formation represented by all major aircraft manufacturers in Wichita. Implemented or supported training and national recruiting projects resulting in hundreds of trained graduates and 8,000 professional prospects.
- Established the Wichita Community Job Network; now in its 14th year. It is one of the top community sponsored job boards in the country. This business funded program has generated over 50,000 postings, saved employers over $3.5 million dollars and secured recruits from throughout the U.S. and abroad.
- Lead the creation of Young Professionals of Wichita (YPW) which focuses on growing the next generation of leaders for the Wichita business community. YPW currently has 1,900+ members and is one of the most productive organizations of its kind in the country.
- Designed and launched the Business Education Success Team (BEST). Serving thousands of students and hundreds of teachers, BEST became the primary resource to connect learning and teaching to the world of work.
- Co-created and managed Summer Jobs for Teens, noted for job placement of teens in a tough economy. This project provided hundreds of jobs for youth and was recognized for its innovation and success by President Reagan in 1982.
- Lead the development of many successful workforce development projects supporting manufacturing, construction and call center industries.
- Designed and managed Business Growth, a business contact program for business retention/expansion. Involved more than 150 volunteers; resulted in 2,500+ personal business visits & provided technical assistance to 300 employers.
- Skilled at working in close partnership with economic development staff and in developing and presenting incentive packages to site selectors and business growth prospects.
- Developed successful programs including Supervisor Awareness Training which provided line supervisors with tools to better retain and motivate staff.
- Provide consultative services to entrepreneurs and package and present proposals for for-profit ventures.
